In Search of the Dreaded One-Armed Kataroo

One of the lesser known reasons for this trip is to once and for all put to bed the myth of the Kataroo. For those who are blessed with ignorance, the Kataroo, or more specifically the African One-Armed Kataroo, is one of the most dangerous and feared land animals, and its existence has yet to be fully documented by most credible research. However, those of us who have seen it first hand know that the Kataroo is not a myth -- and if you have the stomach for it, the tribal elders in regions throughout the darkest heart of Africa, are more than willing to fill you in on the gruesome details.

The Kataroo -- half vicious cat and half terrifying kangaroo, is found only in the deepest jungle of equatorial Africa. It sits comfortably at the top of the food chain, and may choose to feast on any size animal from lion to elephant. Kataroos can also see in the dark, hop over 4 stories in the air, and run at nearly the speed of sound. Some think that like the weaker Himalayan Yeti, the Kataroo can become invisible at will. It is also said that the Kataroo only has one arm because that is all it needs -- any more arms would slow the K-roo down. And believe me even with one arm you wouldn't want to get too close!

Unfortunately (and not surprisingly!), there has been very little actual footage of the Kataroo. After all, the Kataroo is extremely stealthy and frequently is able to steal the babies and cameras of nature enthusiasts and professionals alike before they are able to capture the animal on film.

However, to let viewers of this website understand the tremendous evil inherent in this wild beast, I have built a playdoh model of the creature as shown below. Please remember this is just the author's recreation (note that this particular K-roo is actually with child).
Kataroo Recreation

Below, you will find a rare treat -- the only actual photograph in existence of the Kataroo. This film was found in the stomach of a turtle buried under a termite mound in the African Congo. Nothing was ever heard again from the poor, brave photographer, though his coolmax undergarments were found shredded to bits hanging from the jungle's treetops. Actual Footage
